Located in the tiny town of Waupeton, this large deck girder bridge crosses Black Bridge Spring along the Mississippi River.
Built in approximately 1940, the bridge consists of a single deck girder span, set onto concrete and timber substructures. In addition, the bridge is approached by a single trestle span on either side.
The girder on the bridge is particularly large, and actually very long. Unfortunately, no information can be found on the bridge.
Currently, the bridge is owned by Dakota, Minnesota & Eastern. The timber south pier could possibly indicate that this bridge was moved from another location.
Overall, the bridge appears to be in good condition, with little major deterioration.
The author has ranked this bridge as being locally significant, due to the common design.
